A NOTE FROM GERT HORSTMEYER

A NOTE FROM GERT HORSTMEYER

Hello, dear prospective client. I am delighted to learn of your interest in MOTORcheckUP and your desire for more information regarding its development and background.

People often inquire: How did you come up with this ingenious idea?

The inspiration struck me while observing a demonstration on the removal of fat and juices from roasts, using thick filter paper. The inventor intended to patent this process, but circumstances didn’t permit. However, this sparked the notion that there might be other applications for this effect. Over the course of several years, the basic concept took shape: utilising motor oil to gain insight into the engine, akin to a doctor examining a patient’s blood.

The realisation of this idea

Though it may sound simple, the journey from concept to a safety-tested product took about six years. It began with the search for the right paper and extended to approximately 150 days spent in a laboratory, experimenting to find the optimal solution. Many avenues were explored and discarded before the correct path emerged. Drawing on my background in marketing, communication, print, and paper, the solution eventually revealed itself, as is often the case with such endeavours.

The process involved applying for patents, undergoing examinations, and encountering setbacks with companies interested in marketing the product. Today, I take pride in collaborating with numerous strong and reputable partners, whose ranks seem to grow daily. These successes continue to open up new applications and markets. During the development phase, I even discovered a groundbreaking new method.

A significant part of our success lies in consistently introducing the product to experts. While this approach may not have initially yielded substantial sales, it steadily built our reputation. MOTORcheckUP is now embraced by experts and associations across various fields as a conclusive, rapid test. Its credibility has even been established in legal proceedings.

Warm regards,

Gert Horstmeyer

FAQ

Frequently asked questions (FAQ) about MOTORcheckUP and FLUIDcheckUP.

MOTORcheckUP operates on a foundation of chemical analysis and evaluation. Through this system, you can scrutinize the components of engine oil, brake fluid, power steering oil (hydraulic oil), and gear oil. This capability allows you to infer irregularities, faults, damage to the machinery, or the condition of the oil. The results provide insight into potential defects and recommend appropriate actions.

It’s like visiting a doctor. Just as the doctor examines a drop of blood to assess the body’s health, MOTORcheckUP operates similarly. Only a single drop of oil or fluid is needed to inspect the engine, brakes, steering, and gears.

The process is remarkably straightforward, from extraction to evaluation. Simply take a drop of oil from the engine or container and apply it to the test paper. Then, compare the result with the easily readable charts – and you’re done.

MOTORcheckUP can be likened to dialysis tests, pregnancy tests, or even testing the water in a fish tank.

The mode of operation and effectiveness of MOTORcheckUP underwent rigorous testing by automotive experts (Test number: B 09 04 6995 001). Their report confirms the functionality and effectiveness of MOTORcheckUP. The production process is regularly monitored. Additionally, the manufacturing and enhancement of the special paper adhere to the strict standards of the QM-system according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008.

The primary motivation: Protecting engines and components from failure and damage, thus avoiding costly repairs. Identifying issues early prevents total breakdowns, saving both money and operational time while minimising disruption.

The oil in the engine allows us to assess the efficiency of combustion and identify potential issues with components like the turbocharger. We can also detect abrasion, sediments, and analyse wear in the motor oil, along with any issues like water or fuel contamination.

Examining the engine provides insights into its health. It helps to easily identify issues such as combustion problems, injector damage, or turbocharger malfunctions. Additionally, it allows for the detection of water or fuel in the oil and assesses the overall condition of the oil, all contributing to extending the engine’s lifespan.

The tests are best stored at room temperature. They have a shelf life of up to ten years.

For storage in damp environments such as boats or ships, we recommend placing the tests in plastic bags, which we are happy to supply.

Are there problems with waste disposal?

The tests can be disposed of with regular household waste as the chemicals are entirely harmless.

For environmentally friendly disposal, you can separate the test medium from the carton and dispose of it with paper waste.

Many specialists and institutions utilise this system. The tests are employed for various purposes such as reports (including as evidence in court), valuations, and inspections for classic cars.

MOTORcheckUP was developed by its inventor, Gert Horstmeyer, during numerous hours in the laboratory. Patents for this unique invention were applied for in many countries around the world.

MOTORcheckUP is virtually unmatched in its field. The patent for MOTORcheckUP was granted in Europe on 10th February 2010 (Patent no. EP1825256), and it is being nationalised in numerous European countries. While laboratory tests could be considered “competition,” the comparison is misleading: laboratory tests are more precise and detailed but also more expensive and time-consuming. Interpreting such analyses requires a high level of specialised knowledge in chemistry. This is where MOTORcheckUP excels, offering a simpler approach with easy-to-read and compare pictures.

This test system operates on the same principle as MOTORcheckUP, utilising the chromatographic effect. It is designed for inspecting machinery and equipment utilising hydraulics. Similar to MOTORcheckUP, this system enables examination of machinery components through fluid analysis. By analysing a drop of fluid, one can identify abrasion, wear, dirt, or potential faults and deficiencies.

FLUIDcheckUP operates in a manner similar to MOTORcheckUP: by placing just one drop of fluid on the test paper, you can obtain a visual representation that can be compared with specific charts.

With FLUIDcheckUP or MOTORcheckUP, you evaluate the effectiveness of oils and determine their operational capability. The results become visible after just 15 minutes, depending on the age and wear of the oils, revealing their current state. This test not only ensures safety but also facilitates preventive maintenance, enhances aggregate reliability, mitigates costly repairs, and prolongs lifespan.

There are numerous applications across various sectors including automotive, industry, agriculture, construction, and wind power stations.

This system is employed in vehicles to assess brakes, power steering, and gears by examining their specific fluids.

In the case of brakes, the test provides insights into abrasion, dirt accumulation, and breakdown of additives. While the percentage of water may require a trained eye to detect, the test can reveal signs of abrasion on brake cylinders, dirt from leaking pipes, and the breakdown of additives.

All oils contain crucial additives aimed at preventing damage, safeguarding against overheating, wear, and changes. However, as these additives deplete, oil sludge forms, leading to reduced lifespan and performance, increased operating costs, and a heightened risk to the functioning of working areas.

FLUIDcheckUP, a component of MOTORcheckUP, allows you to assess the effectiveness of oils and determine their functional capacity.
